We are delighted to announce the acquisition of the previously named Private Banks Sports Ground, situated just a few minutes’ walk away from the College. Planning for the ground, which we have renamed Jubilee Ground in honour of the upcoming historic event, is already underway. This 20 acre site more than doubles our land area in Catford and will be of huge benefit not only to the pupils, parents and staff at St Dunstan’s College but also to schools, groups and individuals in the local community.
For the foreseeable future, the paid-for leisure facilities (including the gym, dance studio, function rooms and 5-a-side football and other pitch hire) will continue to operate as they have been for staff at St Dunstan’s College but also for schools, groups and individuals in the local community.
The site has a rich sporting heritage and indeed when the OD Sports Club Ltd was formed in 1922 it was the main ground for the OD's who are now based at Park Langley. 3 8 first class cricket matches were played by Kent from 1875-1921 including against the West Indies in 1906, South Africa in 1907 and India in 1911.
Continuing the tradition, we have booked in the Lewisham Schools Cricket Competition for 20 schools on 21 June 2012 and we look forward to hosting sports days for other schools.
This is a momentous event in the College’s history and we will be sure to keep you informed of plans as they develop.
In the short term, the public facilities will be managed by St Dunstan's Sports Club. For further information please visit the following link: http://www.sdsports.co.uk/
