The 48 hour scientific investigation

As this newsletter goes to press the Year 12 IB Students are completing their Group 4 Project. They have 48 hours to devise and complete a scientific investigation, and the teams are made up of people studying diffferent sciences so there is a lot of inter-disciplinary collaboration. This year's theme is Paralympics, which has been interpreted broadly; from investigating the fireworks at the opening ceremony to the extra energy required to race in a wheelchair. They've made their own nylon and found out how hard it is to carry an Olympic torch. The results haven't been fully analysed yet, but there's been a lot of good science, and the findings will be presented at the St Dunstan's Science Symposium on Thursday 14th June at 6pm - all are welcome to come along.
