As we all know, the start to the season has been appalling with rain seemingly falling non-stop. However, this game had to be played and it was evident that the teams were rusty. There is not a great deal to record but in misty rain we bowled our allotted overs. The ball had quickly become a wet pudding and their batsmen took full advantage, however, it has to be said that Frank Plummer and Tom Owen both bowled good lines. They had a particularly powerful number three who batted in an assured manner and they set us a very difficult target. We started well with Tom Owen and Frank Plummer looking comfortable, though once Frank had succumbed in an attempt to push the score along, the task always looked beyond our reach. Rahul Reddy hit some cavalier shots but it was not going to be enough. The final outcome was a loss for us though there were positives as noted in the report. Undoubtedly on this damp afternoon the better team won and hopefully with an improved weather outlook we can improve.
