St Dunstan’s College is the beating heart of St Dunstan’s Education Group; a group of South London schools educating close to 2000 children across 6 sites and with a shared belief in educational excellence delivered differently.

It was on our Catford site, in 1888, that St Dunstan’s was founded as one of the world’s most pioneering schools for its time. A school that saw the value of placing science and technology into a curriculum when others would not. A school that believed children learned better by ‘finding out and doing’ when others preferred them to sit and listen. A school that settled on a humble blank shield as its metaphor for education – a blank canvas, upon which each child should carve their own journey and capture their unique individual identity.

Things have changed a great deal in the last 135 years. We are now in the heart of one of the most vibrant and diverse corners of the country. We are educating some 1250 boys and girls from ages 3–18.

We are one of the highest performing schools in the country, based on our academic, sporting and artistic outcomes. But some things never change.

We are once again recognised as being one of the most progressive schools in the UK, and at the forefront of educational thinking. From our pioneering Wellness Centre to our Forder Co-Curricular Programme, Sixth Form Diploma, St Dunstan’s Festival, and Let’s Talk About conference series, each initiative has been designed to play an integral part in the preparation of young people for success and happiness in its broadest sense.

Delivering excellence. differently is therefore baked into our thinking. It is a part of our organisational DNA. And whilst the array of awards, accolades and national recognition for our unique curriculum and culture are cherished, more important to us is what this means for the young people who are the privileged recipients of an education here.

Highly capable, ambitious young men and women who, as a consequence of an education that interweaves internationalism, platforms character development and equips young people with future-focused skill development, helps nurture and inspire tomorrow’s changemakers; changemakers with integrity, kindness and compassion at their core.

We believe that our approach to education speaks to tomorrow’s world. A world we can’t yet truly fathom but one that will need human values as much as it will intellectual agility. That will need courage and resilience. That will need creativity and deep thinking. This is what a St Dunstan’s education provides.

In recent years we have invested heavily in an estate that matches our approach to education and our ambitions for the future - a new Junior School, a STEM Centre for Excellence and Innovation, a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Theatre. Alongside this, our 21-acre Jubilee Grounds have been transformed into a hub for sport and community engagement, underpinning our groundbreaking gender-neutral sports programme, our unique partnership with Chelsea FC, and our extensive outreach across Lewisham.

Looking ahead, we are excited to have begun the redevelopment of the Plaza - creating a vibrant heart of the College campus - as well as unveiling our ambitious plans for a new Sport and Leisure Centre, which will further enhance opportunities for our community.

I hope this gives you a sense of the exciting, progressive environment that defines St Dunstan’s. I warmly invite you to visit us and to experience the energy of our community first-hand. During your time with us, I hope you will also enjoy learning more about our Junior and Senior Schools and meeting the Heads who lead them so ably. Both are exceptional leaders who embody the values of St Dunstan’s and are deeply committed to delivering an outstanding education for every child in their care as they bring excellence. differently. to life in their school communities.
