3+ Entry

nursery

Nursery, or 3+, is our first point of entry into St Dunstan’s Junior School.

Children will need to have a date of birth that falls between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 for entry in 2026. We accept registrations for our Nursery from birth, and early registration is welcomed.

As part of the registration process, parents are required to submit details of their child’s current Nursery key worker with whom we will liaise to find out more about your child’s day to day progress in their current setting.

The closing date for 3+ registration is Sunday 1 March 2026.

Assessment Session for 3+ Entry

Tuesday 17 March 2026  

All registered children and their parents are invited to visit our Junior School and enjoy a morning with some of our teachers, in order that we can get to know your child a little more in person. Our highly-skilled team will run a play session with your child, where their interactions with other children will be observed, as well as their interest in particular activities and ability to talk to the staff and answer questions. We will also read the children a story, monitor their engagement and identify simple inference skills.

4+ Entry

Reception, or 4+, is our second point of entry into St Dunstan’s Junior School.

Children will have been born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 for entry in September 2026.

Registrations for entry in September 2026 is now closed, and our Reception class is full.Dates for entry in September 2027 will be published when we start our next admissions cycle in September 2026. To aid in your planning, please note that registration will close in early November, and our assessments will take place mid November.

Year 3

Year 3, or 7+, is our third point of entry into St Dunstan’s Junior School.

Children will have been born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 for entry in September 2026.

The closing date for 7+ registration is Wednesday 3 December.

Assessment Day for 7+ Entry 

Monday 5 January 2026

Assessments involve spending a full day in the Junior School, including:

• an assessment of the child's cognitive ability, with computerised tests focusing on Mathematics and English;
• an evaluation of their in-class learning behaviours;
• an evaluation of the child's social skills and interactions with both peers and adults;
• consideration of reports and references from their current school.

To apply for a place at the Junior School, all prospective candidates must complete the relevant online registration form. A non-refundable registration fee of £250, inclusive of VAT, is required. Acceptance of registration does not constitute the offer of a place.
