Academic Scholarships

11+

Academic Scholarships recognise and reward academic excellence. It is not possible to apply for an Academic Scholarship as potential scholars will be selected for interview on the basis of their performance in the entrance assessments.

For St Dunstan’s Education Group pupils going into Year 7 at the Senior School, a recommendation is made from the Head of Junior School to the Head of Senior School for potential scholarship candidates who should be assessed.

Candidates who perform particularly well in the entrance assessments will be invited to attend a scholarship interview. At this point, the Head of Sixth Form will ask the external candidate to prepare an academic presentation on a specific topic which will then be presented in person by the candidate.

'Spire' Co-Curricular Scholarship Programme for 11+

We are exceptionally proud of our Co-curricular Scholarship programme, which is named ‘Spire’ in honour of our heritage, having been founded under the iconic spire of St Dunstan’s in the East.

A spire stands above the buildings around it not to separate it, but to guide, inspire and point upward. In the same spirit, our Scholars are aspirational, outward-facing, and influential – grounded in strong foundations, but leaders within the school community.

The Spire Programme will develop scholars who excel in their specialism but also inspire others and help shape the culture of our school. Each strand of the programme ensures that scholars are supported holistically and fully equipped to thrive.

'S.P.I.R.E' stands for:

Support: specialist guidance through expert mentoring and a strong scholar community.

Perform: challenged to refine and showcase their specialist talent.

Inspire: experiences that broaden horizons and fuel ambition.

Resilience: equipped with the skills to thrive in high pressure environments.

Empower: given the opportunity to lead, influence and inspire others.

Bursaries - Wren Scholarships

Wren scholarships are the name of our means tested Bursaries, offered to the most academically able candidates whose families require financial assistance for them to attend the College.

Families who could not otherwise send their children to an independent school may be able to do so, if they meet the eligibility criteria. To qualify for consideration for a Wren scholarship, the gross family income must be below £75,000 per annum. Typically, both parents need to be in employment, unless they are prevented from being so, and they are both required to provide proof of their income and assets. Applicants must be UK residents to apply for financial assistance. The level of support varies according to parental need but can extend to full fee remission for the highest attaining students.

All Wren Scholarship financial assistance applications are assessed by an external company called Bursary Assessment Associates. In addition we may also conduct home visits or a phone call to support the financial assessment.

Financial assistance is offered for a whole academic year but is reviewed annually.

To apply for a Wren Scholarship you must indicate on your registration form that you would like to apply and a link will be sent to you as advised below:
