Junior Drama

Drama at St Dunstan’s Junior School is a thriving and integral part of school life, designed to nurture confidence, creativity, and collaboration from the earliest years.

With access to our own dedicated performing arts studios and theatre, pupils benefit from professional-standard spaces that bring their performances to life. Regular performance opportunities are embedded throughout the year, giving children invaluable experience in working towards productions and presenting their work to others.

In the Michaelmas Term, Reception to Year 2 pupils take to the stage in our much-loved Pre-Prep Nativity, a joyful introduction to performance that helps build early skills in projection and stage presence. In the Lent Term, pupils in Years 3 and 4 create themed showcases linked to their class topics, combining drama with cross-curricular learning.

From erupting volcanoes to life in the Stone Age, these performances are a creative and exciting way to deepen understanding and apply dramatic technique.

The Trinity Term sees the culmination of pupils’ drama journeys in the Year 6 Production - a full-scale, collaborative show that draws together everything they have learnt over the years and offers a brilliant bridge to Senior School drama.

In addition to curriculum drama, pupils from Reception upwards can also take part in LAMDA lessons, giving them the chance to develop their skills further through graded performance qualifications. Drama at St Dunstan’s is about far more than acting; it is about finding your voice, expressing yourself with confidence, and loving every minute on (and off) the stage.
