Congratulations to the SDC Big Band, who were awarded a Gold Award at the National Concert Band Festival Finals.

Held on Sunday 12th April at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, the event brought together the best wind and big bands from across the UK, invited following their performances at the regional finals.

The SDC Big Band performed magnificently alongside the other school and county big bands from across the country in their section. 

A massive well done to trumpeter Stanley (Year 11), who was the only performer in the section to receive an individual award for his outstanding solos.

As well as their performance and adjudication, the students took part in an improvisation session which saw them join forces on stage with players from the other bands.

It was fantastic experience for our young musicians, and many congratulations to them all!
