On Friday 22 May we celebrated Commemoration Day, remembering the founders and benefactors of St Dunstan's College.

The day began with a special Commemoration Service attended by Year 7 and 8 at Southwark Cathedral, with prayers and readings from selected students from Junior School to Sixth Form and hymns sung by the College Choir. The journey to the service was extra special, as Year 7 and 8 travelled on their own chartered train from Catford Bridge to London Bridge.

Following the service the whole school, from Nursery to Sixth Form, was treated to a delicious BBQ lunch on the school fields in the glorious sunshine. It was a chance for students and teachers alike to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

The afternoon saw more excitement for Years 7 and 8, as they honoured our school’s rich heritage by engaging in traditional activities. Year 7 played lacrosse, the very first sport played when the school was founded, enjoying a House tournament won by Glastonbury. Year 8 tried their hand at Officer Training Corps, a precursor to our modern Combined Cadet Force, and a very popular extracurricular during the first decades of the College’s existence.

Overall, the day provided an opportunity for all to honour our school’s heritage and origins, and reflect on what makes St Dunstan’s so special.
