Our St Dunstan’s community once again came together to remember our fallen Dunstonians; students and teachers who gave their lives fighting in WW1, and all the conflicts since.

The moving ceremony began in the Great Hall with a service conducted by the Reverend Douglas Dales. It featured prayers, reading and choral works from Rev. Dales, Dunstonian Lt. Col. Mike Foster, Head of Senior School Ms McLellan, Head of School Emmanuel, Junior Head of School Sonny and our Chapel Choir.

Outside, we heard the Last Post played by Jasmine and observed a 2 minute silence before the formal Laying of Wreaths took place in front of the Memorial Cross. The St Dunstan’s CCF, including the Army, Royal Navy and Corps of Drums, also played an integral part in proceedings.

During the First World War, more than 877 Dunstonians served in the forces, and St Dunstan’s suffered one of the highest percentage losses of any school in the country. Tragically 277 students and teachers lost their lives during the war.
