We are delighted to share that the St Dunstan’s College Lent Term musical production, Beauty and the Beast, has been nominated for five awards by the National School Theatre Awards (NSTA).

The nominations are: Best Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.

The annual musical is a highlight of the school calendar, and was brought to life by our team of talented drama and music teachers and technicians, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of the many students involved.

The NSTA review highlighted the strength of the main cast, praising the performance of Sam Mawrey-Yates as the Beast as "remarkable", and that: "His rendition of 'If I Can't Love Her' was beautifully sung and emotionally powerful."

They also said of Isabel Reynolds, who played Belle: "She brought appropriate grace and girl-power assertiveness to her characterisation of this Disney princess."

The ensemble was praised as having "supported the action well throughout" and for performing "musical numbers [that] were filled with infectious enthusiasm."

The NSTA praised the production overall, describing it as: “Another triumph, a grand vision delivered with strength and style.”

“You invited us to ‘Be Our Guest’ and it was, indeed, a feast – a beast of a show and beautifully performed.”
