Fresh off their triumphant Blackheath Cup victory, the St Dunstan’s College U12 Girls Football Team carried their momentum into the highly anticipated Inner London Cup Final against Graveney School. With determination in their hearts and silverware on their minds, the team stepped onto the pitch ready to give their all.

From the first whistle, the girls demonstrated grit, energy, and cohesion. The first half saw confident, attacking play, with new team member Rose linking up beautifully with Athina to carve open the Graveney defence. Their interplay helped unleash the attacking threat of Lyla, Zionae and Marianne.

The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Athina struck a sensational long-range shot, bending it into the top left corner to give St Dunstan’s a well-deserved 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Graveney pushed forward, and the pressure on the defence intensified. Defenders Joseline, Avi, and Maria stood firm, making a series of crucial tackles and interceptions. However, a rare moment allowed Graveney a one-on-one opportunity, which they capitalised on to level the score at 1-1.

The match remained fiercely competitive until the very end. Goalkeeper Lois made a vital save in added time, while Zionae and Marianne both came close to clinching a winner in the dying seconds. Despite the late drama, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

As per the competition rules, both teams were crowned Inner London Cup Champions – a fitting conclusion to a thrilling contest between two outstanding teams.

We are immensely proud of our U12 girls for their incredible performance, team spirit, and sportsmanship. Two trophies in recent weeks – a phenomenal achievement. Congratulations, champions!
