Students from Film Club review the Pixar film, Wall-E

This term in Film Club we’ve been watching the Pixar film, Wall-E.

Wall-E is a heartwarming cartoon exploring the theme of climate change in a dystopian future. At the start of the film, we see a robot named Wall-E, whose only purpose in life is to fix the earth after the humans have destroyed it. He then meets another robot named Eve who was sent from the spaceship the humans have been taken to in order to find a plant. The two robots fall in love and Wall-E follows Eve back to the spaceship where their relationship is put to the test. The film ends with the humans returning to Earth and beginning to start a new, more sustainable, life.

The film was enjoyable as it is not only has an entertaining plot, but also has a significant meaning behind it. It teaches us that we must act to end climate change before it’s too late and that friendship and love can overcome anything. The film is interesting because it uses so little dialogue, but the incredible animation constructs an engaging story through the characters’ facial expressions and the great attention to detail.

We would recommend the film; it's great for families to enjoy together as there’s something for all ages!
