St Dunstan’s College is delighted to announce the appointment of Miss Laura Whitwood as Head of Junior School.

The Headmaster, Mr Nicholas Hewlett, said: ‘It is my very great pleasure to announce the appointment of Miss Laura Whitwood as the new Head of Junior School, with immediate effect.

‘I know you will join me in recognising the enormous amount that Miss Whitwood has already brought to the leadership of the Junior School, since acting as Head from September. To have balanced two roles with such dexterity, aplomb and good humour, is endorsement of the very great gifts she will bring to the Junior School’s leadership, and through a time of significant transition to its new home.’

The appointment comes at an exciting time for the College as a new Junior School building will open in 2021 featuring state-of-the art classrooms, outdoor learning spaces and science laboratories.

Speaking about her new role, Miss Whitwood said: ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Junior School through a particularly exciting time of development. It is a great privilege to be part of such a nurturing, kind and happy College, where the pupils continue to inspire me through their boundless energy, kindness to one another and love of learning.

‘I would also like to thank the St Dunstan’s community for their support and the warmth they have shown me; it makes it a truly special place to be. It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I am able to steer the Junior School through the next pivotal stage of our journey, which will see us move to a brand new home.’

Prospective parents and pupils will have an opportunity to meet Miss Whitwood at one of the Junior School’s upcoming open mornings on March 24 and April 28.
