St Dunstan’s College believes that education is strengthened by meaningful connections beyond the classroom.
Our partnerships play a vital role in enriching student learning, widening opportunities, and strengthening the communities we serve.
By working collaboratively with local organisations, charities, businesses, and educational institutions, we foster shared knowledge, mutual support, and real-world experiences that help our students grow into confident, compassionate, and socially responsible individuals.
Case study 1: Lewisham Young Leaders Academy (LYLA)
St Dunstan's College has been supporting the Lewisham Young Leaders Academy for disadvantaged Black African, Black Caribbean and dual heritage children aged 8-18 since its inception in 2019. LYLA provides leadership skills through positive role modelling, exploration of history and provision of informal academic support .
In September 2023, LYLA won the prestigious Educational Excellence Award at the Charles Gordon Trust Awards in recognition of the outstanding educational programs and dedication of the LYLA team. Other nominees included esteemed institutions such as The Brit School, Royal Russell, and the Oasis Academy.
LYLA is an extraordinary and enriching environment where learning extends beyond the conventional boundaries. It offers a platform to forge friendships, embark on exciting trips, and engage in captivating workshops. Here, your mind is nurtured to think beyond limitations, encouraging constant exploration. Your unique talents are celebrated, fostering a sense of belonging akin to a close-knit family. Anticipating each weekly visit fills me with excitement, as it equips me with invaluable tools for navigating daily life. Every session brings forth fresh opportunities for growth, which I deeply appreciate.
LYLA serves as a powerful motivator for black youth, empowering them to overcome obstacles and strive for the most promising prospects. Being part of this remarkable community is a true blessing, one that should be cherished with gratitude.'
