St Dunstan's College was founded on benevolence and ambition. Benevolence that saw a group of parishioners from St Dunstan's in the East see fit to fund a new school that was "ahead of its current time".
A school that would:
- enable students to "find out and do" rather than simply sit and listen.
- introduce a radically different curriculum, containing Science, Technology and Engineering.
- relish a broad, liberal approach to education, introducing one of the first truly co-curricular programmes in the world.
- enlarge access by supporting children from a range of backgrounds and means.
St Dunstan’s today is proud of this heritage. We continue our commitment to increasing transformational bursaries, ensuring talented students regardless of background or circumstances can thrive with us.
Our Culture of Giving
At St Dunstan’s College we foster a deep culture of giving that unites our entire community, from our youngest pupils and dedicated staff to our parents and global alumni network.
We are proud to empower the next generation of leaders through our Sixth Form Philanthropy Committee. This pupil-led body takes the helm in selecting our global and hyperlocal charity partnerships, setting the direction of travel for the pupils’ charity work for the year. This democratic approach extends across the College, where each House votes for its own local charity, ensuring that every student has a voice in our social impact.
To support this mission, the College appoints dedicated staff leads to champion charity giving and volunteering, ensuring our community is not just donating, but actively engaging as global citizens.

St Dunstan’s has a long heritage of social mobility. We remain steadfast in our commitment to increasing bursary provision, ensuring that talented students regardless of their financial background or circumstances, can access a life-changing education and thrive within our community.
Community Partnerships
Service, compassion, and responsibility are at the heart of our school. Through volunteering, mentoring, and fundraising, our pupils and staff work hand-in-hand with the residents of Lewisham and South-East London to tackle local challenges and build a stronger, more equitable community.
Capital Projects
Our Small Capital Projects fund the enhancement of our facilities and sustainable initiatives, providing the environment necessary for our students to lead the way in problem-solving for a more sustainable society.

Every year, we thank our supporters and benefactors on Commemoration Day, by hosting a Drinks Reception at Mansion House after the beautiful service of thanksgiving held at Southwark Cathedral.
